Old KOTOR Remake Images From Aspyr Leak Online

Newly revealed development images that were being created for Aspyr's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake have appeared online, and they provide an intriguing glimpse into how the game was shaping up before Aspyr's poor state delayed the project and ultimately changed hands. The artist shared assets and design concepts from the version of the remake they were working on when the game was with Aspyr. There was a huge announcement for the KOTOR title to be fully remade back in 2021, a huge deal for a lot of Star Wars fans, but news of the remake went dark in 2022 when Aspyr let the art director and design director go, and then transferred development of the game over to Saber Interactive. Officially, there has been very little news of any ongoing development work on the remake since.

Weapons, Assets and Game Features Shared
The images show off some game assets like blasters, blaster rifles, Vibroblades, and computer interfaces. There were even some environmental props, all of which gave the sense of the overall direction that the remake was seeking to portray. In particular, fans shared a level of excitement and praise for the Vibroblades because of their design and the level of detail represented in the photorealistic nature of the images shared by this artist.

Additionally, it was revealed that Aspyr was planning to have a modular weapon system in their remake. This means that players would be able to upgrade and swap out parts of their weapons to make them more impressive and interesting than what the title originally offered.

The KOTOR Remake's Future is Uncertain
While Saber Interactive has taken on this project, there has been little news on what their version of the remake is looking like. While some fans are undoubtedly hoping, some are unsure if the remake will happen now. And ultimately, even if it does manage to move forward and begin something official again, I would wager that none of the original assets that were created by Aspyr will be made for Saber's side of the remake. After a few years have passed since that initial attempt, Saber's remake might eventually look just different enough to say it, at least in some fashion, looks better than the first, while there are still so many questions left unanswered surrounding what will happen.
