No Man's Sky Lands on iPhone and iPad October 28

No Man's Sky first launched a decade ago, and it remains one of the best comebacks in gaming. It arrived to disappointment, then won players over through years of updates that added new content and mechanics. Today it still draws tens of thousands of players daily on Steam alone. Now it is getting a brand-new release on October 28, bringing the universe-exploring game to even more people.

A Full Version for Apple Devices
No Man's Sky will launch on iPhone and iPad on October 28. This is not a "lite" mobile version. It is a full experience that includes over forty of the major updates the other versions have received over the years, including the recent Cosmos update. The game needs only 4GB of storage, and Hello Games has worked hard to make it run on a wide range of iOS devices.

It can be played on iPhone 11 and up and on 3rd generation iPad Air and above. The App Store lists iOS 26 or later and a device with the A12 Bionic chip or better as requirements. Players can try the start of the game for free, and the full title costs $19.99.

What Is Missing and What Is New
There are a few trade-offs. The Planetary Settlements feature will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro or better, and multiplayer will be absent at launch. The team hasn't directly promised to add it later, but it noted that the Switch version launched in a similar state and eventually grew on the Switch 2. If the iOS version does well, Hello Games says it will "support it appropriately," which could mean more features down the line.

On the plus side, the game has touch-screen controls and supports controllers on every device. iPad players can also use a mouse and keyboard, and the game can be cast to a TV. The team says a "ton of work" went into extending battery life and cutting heat output, so longer sessions should be more comfortable.

What Hello Games Is Planning Next
With the Cosmos update and the iOS release, No Man's Sky is likely to attract new players and more attention. Hello Games is already looking ahead, though. Its next game, Light No Fire, is a multiplayer fantasy survival sandbox where players explore, survive and build together. It appears to carry much of the DNA of No Man's Sky, though set on a single planet. It has no release window yet, but players can wishlist it now.
