A Classic Shooter Comes Back
Forsaken 64, first released for PC in April 1998, saw its Nintendo 64 version launch in May 1998. In 2018, NightDive Studios, an Atari subsidiary that currently owns the rights to Forsaken, released a remastered version on PC and Xbox One. NightDive also brought the shooter to the Switch Online service.

Players take on the role of the mercenary who rides on a futuristic hoverbike through a post-apocalyptic Earth with mechanical enemies. Forsaken 64 was also one of the N64's best FPS experiences because of its split-screen multiplayer that supported up to four players.

Launch Information and Expansion of the App
The title will launch on September 4 at 9 PM Eastern and be available to active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Forsaken 64 will only be available through the N64 Mature 17+ app, which needs to be downloaded separately from the Nintendo 64 library.

The launch of Forsaken 64 will bring the number of titles in the Mature 17+ collection to five, along with Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Nintendo released a short trailer that included a showcase of both single-player and multiplayer gameplay.

Foreshadowing of a More Significant Update
The addition of Forsaken 64 followed earlier leaks and rumours of batches of upcoming N64 titles like Glover and Super Smash Bros. While Nintendo has been slow to update the classics, fans will have to remain on high alert to see which other titles will be added. For Switch 2 users, there will be modern features like gameplay rewind and control remapping for the title.
