After a presentation at Nintendo Direct's September 12 announcement, where there were some interesting surprises in terms of games on the horizon, Square Enix signed off with the special news that there would be a bonus for the purchase of the physical copy of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.
Each copy of the title will include a booster pack with bonus purchases, Magic: The Gathering's Final Fantasy crossover set! This is an added bonus, and please remember all of these packs will be available for a limited time, so if you collect or (are a) fan of Final Fantasy, your timing will want to be right!
Release Date and Content
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade for Switch 2 and for all Xbox consoles will be released on January 22, 2026. The new ports will have the base game, Episodes INTERmission DLC, and new in-game bonuses, such as the Carbuncle Summon Materia.
The lucky ones who decide to pre-order, via the Nintendo eShop, the downloadable digital copy of the game before the in-store default option, will be able to download the original Final Fantasy 7 version for a limited time (e.g., before January 31, 2026) as downloadable bonus content.
Physical buyers of the new Switch 2 versions will receive a bonus as in the e-commerce customer, it is a game key card, but what does it mean for physical buyers of the Switch 2 version? There will be a physical boxed game; inside the boxed copy of the game is a Magic: The Gathering booster pack. The booster pack comes with a physical boxed game purchase, as it ties into the Final Fantasy crossover expansion; the Magic:
The Gathering pack contains 14 random cards in the pack. There has been no information confirmed on whether the Xbox players will get this promotion along with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, but the news release confirming the bonus was released on Square Enix's social media pages.
Magic: The Gathering Crossover
The tie-in of Final Fantasy to Magic: The Gathering has already been released, but it appears like it is substantial in relation to the crossover interest of the audience, as it appears the product Clarion Call basis on a significant portion of Final Fantasy VII.
For the card set, featuring characters like the main character Cloud Strife and his fast nemesis, the villain Sephiroth, Cloud makes the top of the Starter Kit, and Cloud is the Commander tower deck's mascot! There are many characters, story plot points, and iconic locations are, too, front and center from Final Fantasy 7, providing fans for multiple decades with the impetus to be happy for the content!
Overall, the stupefying quantity of value beyond the included booster pack with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on the Switch is exciting in and of itself, as presuming Final Fantasy-themed individual booster packs are somehow around $15 each, one could feel the visual illusion that he/she is being given even more of a value, or something for a $40 usd price that they are a large community typically accustomed to buy.
In addition, both franchises are continuing modern continuity crossovers that will create even more excitement for the game and product collectible segment that overlaps two large communities of fandoms/lovers of both properties.
Looking Forward
Another box checked off: a new game experience with Square Enix announcing that they have also committed to bring the whole Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy to all platforms. So, as stated, all other major platforms, including the Switch 2, without release dates, will have new game experiences as well. Intergrade is the first that will debut on Nintendo's new game console, but when will the community see the remaining two parts of the trilogy?
It will be interesting to see how the Final Fantasy 7 Remake integrates for Switch 2 users' game experience alongside modernized visuals and crossover, since you might consider it, one full classic JRPG story with a fairly basic animated summary with photos.
Fans who purchase a physical copy in advance will not only support and fund the extended journey of Cloud and his band of misfits/friends, but they will acquire cards from Magic: The Gathering that celebrate characters from the world of Final Fantasy!
