Xbox Free Play Days Offers Five Free Games Through November 2

Xbox's final Free Play Days promotion for October 2026, which doubles as the first for November, is now live. Depending on the game, it runs through November 1 or November 2. Across the five titles, most fans should find something worth trying this weekend. The catch is that it is more restrictive than usual.

How the Promotion Works

Free Play Days splits its selection into two groups. Free for All games need nothing more than a console. Free with Xbox Game Pass games require a subscription, though they count as free perks rather than permanent additions to the Game Pass library. This weekend, only one game is Free for All, and the other four need Game Pass.

The Free for All title is Dead by Daylight, available on console until November 2. The Game Pass picks are Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea and Everspace 2. The easiest way to claim them is on a console, either through the subscription tab for Free Play Days or by searching the Microsoft Store.

The Free for All Pick

Dead by Daylight has spent more than a decade bringing famous horror villains together, and its asymmetrical multiplayer formula is still the main reason for its popularity. Each match pits Survivors against a single Killer. Survivors try to repair generators and escape before they're hunted down and sacrificed, while the Killer uses unique abilities to stop anyone from getting away. The game has added a huge cast of original characters and licensed horror icons, including the recent arrival of Art the Clown. It launched on June 14, 2016, from Behaviour Interactive, and its Xbox Metascore is 58, though it has come a long way since then.

The Game Pass Picks

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, available until November 1, is a challenging Soulslike action RPG set in the final years of China's Ming Dynasty, where a mysterious disease turns people into terrifying creatures. Players follow Wuchang, an amnesiac pirate warrior searching for answers about her past across the war-torn land of Shu. Combat is the focus, with different weapons, magical abilities and fighting styles, plus an interconnected world, tough bosses, hidden secrets and multiple endings. It should suit fans of Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Released on July 24, 2025 by developer Leenzee and publisher 505 Games, it has an Xbox Metascore of 81 and takes about 30 hours to finish.

Darkwood is a top-down survival horror game known as one of the genre's more unsettling experiences. Tension comes from its disturbing atmosphere, limited resources and the constant sense that something is lurking just out of sight. Daytime exploration is risky, and at night players retreat to a hideout, barricade the entrances and try to survive until morning. Fighting isn't always smart here, so resource management and preparation matter as much as knowing when to run.

Spirittea is a far more relaxing option. Inspired by cozy life sims and Japanese folklore, it puts players in the role of a writer who moves to a quiet town and discovers that spirits are troubling the residents. The fix is to restore an old bathhouse and give those spirits a place to unwind. Much of the game revolves around running the bathhouse and keeping its odd guests happy, but there is plenty to do outside work, from spending time with villagers to fishing, catching bugs, singing karaoke and exploring. With colorful pixel art and a laid-back pace, it shares a lot with Stardew Valley, though its supernatural setting gives it its own personality.

Everspace 2 heads into outer space for a big sci-fi adventure full of exploration, combat and loot. The single-player action RPG follows Adam Roslin, a clone pilot trying to survive the dangerous Demilitarized Zone, where outlaw factions make life hard. Players can explore star systems, upgrade their ship, find hidden locations and take on tougher missions, with ships, weapons and upgrades offering plenty of customization. It drops the roguelike structure of the original in favor of a more traditional RPG with a handcrafted world and persistent progression, making it an easy recommendation for fans of fast space combat who also want a substantial story and freedom to explore.
