Overwatch 2 Season 17 Introduces New Hero Trial – Wuyang will Now be Available to Play for Some Time

When is the Wuyang trial starting?

Players will be able to play Wuyang in trial mode from June 24, 2025, that is, as soon as Season 17 starts. This trial will be for a limited time, just like it happened with the Hazard and Freja trials before. This means that players who want to try it will have to hurry up. After the trial is over, Wuyang will be fully launched in Season 18.

Who is Wuyang?

Wuyang is the 44th hero in Overwatch 2 and the second Chinese hero after Mei. He has what looks like a spear in his hand and is themed around water and clouds. The developers have revealed that he will be a "water wielder" – meaning he probably heals with water or does something new that is different from other support heroes. Playing him will be a new experience.

What will you get in season 17?

Season 17, or "Powered Up", will bring several new cosmetic items and retro-style skins. Heroes like Genji, Sombra, Reinhardt and Zenyatta are getting new looks. These skins can be obtained through the Battle Pass, in-game events and the shop.

This season also has two special Mythic items – D.Va's White Tiger skin and Reaper's new weapon that resembles the Scythe. Both of these look pretty great.

What else is new?

Blizzard has also promised a few new stadium maps and gameplay changes but didn't elaborate much further beyond that.
