In Midnight Season 1, there are a lot of notable nerfs/buffs to classes.Several spec categories have received significant nerfs to some of the top performing classes. For instance, Guardian Druids will have their overall DPS reduced by 20% and their ability to do damage with Moonfire will be reduced by 10%. Other changes will be made to the Druid of the Claw talent tree.
Restoration Druids will receive a 6% nerf to all healing.
Unholy Death Knights will see approximately a 20% reduction in total damage, though buffs for Epidemic and Virulent Plague will give them a 10% and 15% boost respectively. The Deathbringer Hero Talent tree for Blood Death Knights will increase ability damage by 20% as well (e.g. Reaper's Mark, Wave of Souls, Exterminate).
Retribution Paladins see strong buffs for single-target abilities: Final Verdict gets a 30% buff, while melee damage received a 25% increase. Crusading Strikes and Templar Strike are both key single-target buffs. However, Divine Storm has been reduced by 12%, meaning Paladins will do less damage in an area of effect.
Subtlety Rogues have also seen a change to Black Powder (nerf), but Shadowstrike and Eviscerate will both see increased damage.
Demon Hunters, Mages, Hunters, and Priests all see a mix of buffs and nerfs across their abilities: for example, Havoc Demon Hunters will have an overall 6% damage increase, while Arcane Mages will have a 25% increase with Arcane Blast. In addition, Shadow Priests will see a 10% overall damage increase in non-PvP environments.
Apex Talent Adjustments/Hero Talent Adjustments: one of the areas being addressed with this patch is refining gameplay balance with Apex Talents and Hero Talents. Preservation Evokers will see major adjustments to Merithra's Blessing affecting Dream Breath and Reversion. Survival Hunters will receive an increase in single-target damage through Raptor Swipe. Protection Warriors will see adjustments to Phalanx and Wave of Force.
Warriors receive damage increases across the board; Arms will receive a 15% buff, while both Fury and Protection warriors will receive a 10% buff. However, the cooldown of Piercing Howl has been increased to 90 seconds to bring it in line with other similar abilities.
Shamans see buffs across all specs; for Restoration, Healing Rain received a 45% increase in healing while Elemental and Enhancement received a damage increase. Warlocks see a redistribution of power within their talents to mitigate randomness in their damage output.
As Midnight is currently testing its 12.0.5 update on the PTR, additional tuning will likely be conducted in the following weeks. Developers will continue applying updates into future patches to monitor how classes perform throughout raids, PvP, and higher tier content.
