Starfield DLC Achievements Reveal Hidden Features

Ahead of its release, fresh information about Starfield's soon-to-be-released Terran Armada add-on has emerged through the leaks of its achievements list prior to launch. These additional items tell us that much more content and features could be available than many people had previously considered and that expectations for the add-on are being heightened just prior to its release.

Achievement lists often give insight into types of content being added that haven't been revealed, and in the case of the Terran Armada, this is no exception. The full achievements list for the Terrace Armada was made available on Steam on April 3, just four days before its April 7 release. The Terran Armada expansion was formally announced on March 17 alongside the Free Lanes Update, which Bethesda has called the largest free update the game has received to date.

Some of the achievements within the Terran Armada expansion refer to material that was not covered in prior previews of the new content. One of the achievements titled Master of Magnetism, refers to a section of content named New Babylon, wherein players must destroy a robot that belongs to either a person or group named Ivica, which indicates story elements and associated quest lines.

Another achievement, titled Overclocked, hints at a deeper level of customization for Delta, a newly introduced morally ambiguous robot companion. There appear to be several ways for players to modify Delta, but the manner and means of how this occurs are unclear at this time.

New Game Mechanics
Within the achievements list of the Terran Armada expansion, one of the achievements, titled This for That, indicates a new game mechanic that will allow players to transfer control of their outposts from one faction to another. It is currently unknown if there is a way to undo or redo such transfers and what type of benefits to players may remain after they no longer control an outpost or when transferred to another faction.

Based on Bethesda's historical design approach to achievements, they are almost always associated with completing quests. Therefore, it indicates that the contents of the three or four major quest lines for the Terran Armada expansion will add a layer of complexity and depth to the overall narrative of this new content.

Overall, the Terran Armada DLC will introduce 20 new achievements, which adds nearly 32 percent to the total number of achievements available in Starfield. For example, when the Shattered Space DLC was released last September 2024, it contained 12 new achievements.

Release Timing/Platform Expansion
Starfield will launch on the PlayStation 5, which will coincide with the release of both the Terran Armada expansion and the Free Lanes update. The PlayStation version of the game has had an interesting development history, having been planned (in its original form) prior to Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax Media, Bethesda's parent company, in March of 2021.

After the acquisition was completed, the PlayStation version of the game was put on indefinite hold but was recently revived in early 2024 as part of Microsoft's strategy to move toward multi-platform publishing.

With the release of this upcoming DLC fast approaching, the newly revealed details of the achievements provide a clearer picture of what players may see, while raising additional questions about how the new features will impact their overall experience with the game.
