Sonic the Hedgehog Teams Up With Wendy's in US Promotion

Sonic the Hedgehog and Wendy's have kicked off a new promotional collaboration in the United States, giving fans of the iconic Sega franchise a reason to visit their local restaurant. The partnership is part of the ongoing celebrations marking Sonic's 35th anniversary and follows a similar collab the franchise ran with Wendy's in the United Kingdom. The promotion launched on July 20 and is scheduled to run through early September, subject to supplies lasting that long.

Wendy's is a brand that has built a reputation for engaging with gaming culture over the years. The restaurant chain has previously participated in gaming tournaments, run promotions tied to major titles, and made a name for itself through social media interactions with the gaming community. Adding a Sonic collaboration to that history feels like a natural fit, particularly with the franchise celebrating such a significant milestone.

What the Promotion Includes
Customers who purchase a Wendy's Kids' Meal in the United States will receive one of seven different character card cases tied to the collaboration. The cases feature a lineup of fan-favourite characters from the Sonic universe, including Sonic himself, Amy Rose, Tails, Silver, Knuckles, Shadow, and Rouge. Each individual card case contains five cards, and with 35 total cards to collect across the entire set, the collection neatly mirrors the anniversary the promotion is celebrating. Kids' Meal options at Wendy's include a choice between a two-piece chicken tender order, four-piece chicken nuggets, a hamburger, or a cheeseburger, alongside fries or apple bites and a kids' sized drink. The promo will continue through early September while supplies remain available.

How the Wendy's Collab Fits Into Sonic's 35th Anniversary
The restaurant collaboration is just one part of a broader anniversary celebration that Sega has been running throughout 2026. The year kicked off with an unusual but intriguing addition in the form of an official Sonic podcast. Racing game Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has been receiving steady updates, with the recent addition of Mega Man to its roster and further crossover characters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the Evangelion anime series confirmed to be in the works. A life-sized Sonic statue was also unveiled this year, created with synthetic DNA intended to reflect traits associated with the character, making it one of the more creative anniversary tributes the franchise has produced.

On the games side, rumours are circulating about a potential remake of Sonic CD, the classic entry that originally introduced Amy Rose and Metal Sonic to the franchise. Reports suggest that the next Sonic film may incorporate elements from Sonic CD, which could give Sega additional motivation to revisit the title. However, no official confirmation of a remake has come from Sega itself, so fans should treat those reports as unverified for now. What is clear is that the 35th anniversary is being celebrated from multiple angles, and Wendy's promotion gives a broad and accessible way for fans to participate in the occasion without needing to follow gaming news closely to get involved.
