Shadow of Mordor originally debuted back in 2014 to widespread praise, with its sequel following in 2017. Together, the two games follow Ranger Talion and the spirit of Celebrimbor as they fight against Sauron's growing armies during the period between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, with the second title bringing Talion's personal story to a close. The series remains best known for its Nemesis System, a mechanic that transforms recurring Orc enemies into personalized rivals who evolve based on each player's individual encounters with them. Following the closure of Monolith Productions last year, many fans had wondered whether this beloved system would ever return in any form.
Bundle Pricing and Pre-Order Details Revealed
Publisher Aspyr has now confirmed the Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle for Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on September 30, 2026. The collection includes the Game of the Year Edition of Shadow of Mordor and the Definitive Edition of Shadow of War, though both titles will also be sold separately. Shadow of Mordor is priced at $19.99, Shadow of War at $49.99, and the full bundle at $69.99. All three purchase options are currently available at a 50 percent discount for pre-orders, bringing the complete bundle down to $34.99 ahead of release. This launch adds two well-regarded titles to the growing Switch 2 library, and notably brings Shadow of Mordor to Nintendo hardware exactly twelve years after its original 2014 debut.
Nemesis System Makes Its Nintendo Debut
For the first time, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will get to experience the acclaimed Nemesis System firsthand. The mechanic remains a fan favorite thanks to how Orc enemies retain memory of past encounters with Talion, evolving based on their victories, losses, fears, and overall history with the player. Over time, Talion can even turn certain rivals into loyal allies, while the sequel expands this concept further by introducing full armies and large-scale fortress battles. Players can recruit followers with distinct personalities and backstories, then send them into assaults on enemy strongholds, a system that has become central to the emergent storytelling both games are known for, with few other titles attempting anything quite like it.
Both Switch 2 versions will include each game's major post-launch content. The Shadow of Mordor edition comes packed with additional story content, bonus missions, extra runes, cosmetic skins, and other previously released expansion material. The Shadow of War edition includes its major expansions, added Nemesis-focused content, and a bonus weapon. This version also brings notable changes to the game's online systems, as the Garrison feature has been adapted to work offline so players can still manage their Orc followers across regions, though several online-only features like Conquests, Vendettas, Fight Pits, Chests, and Training Orders will not be included in this release.
