What to Expect from September's DirectThere had been rumblings of a September Direct since August, and with the timing of Nintendo's September event, most were convinced a mid-month Direct was on the schedule. Now that it's confirmed, expect to see a few upcoming titles. Most recently, in a very vague leak, it was reported that the September Direct would feature "three seven" games, but it has not been clarified what this meant. It could imply upcoming titles with the number seven in their name or upcoming titles with some connection to the number seven, like being the seventh in a series, etc.
Possibilities thrown around by fans include Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and 007 First Light: Specialist Edition, which will be released on Switch 2 in March. There were also some wondering if the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A would be a contender, but generally, Niantic saves Pokémon events for Pokémon Presents Directs.
Anticipated Games and What Fans Want to See
Fans will also be looking for the next update on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which seems to be the most anticipated release for the Nintendo Switch. Another potential highlight is new content regarding the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., although multiple reports point to the fact that Nintendo will be keeping the September Direct strictly for game reveals, not an anniversary celebration.
The bottom line is that hype is already mounting for the event, and Nintendo has guaranteed it will be streamed live, with fans being able to set notifications already on YouTube to catch the announcements as they happen.
