What PEAK Is All About
PEAK is a first-person climbing game where up to four players work together to scale a mountain and get past obstacles on the way to the summit. Players also have to manage their own resources and make the most of any items they find, and one wrong step can end in an early death. After launch, it was called one of the best co-op games of 2025. It is still seen as one of the best friendslop games on Steam thanks to its replayability and low starting price of $7.99.
Console Release Details
PEAK: Console Edition will launch digitally on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on Thursday, October 22, at 11AM Eastern. Cross-play will be enabled from day one, so friends can climb together no matter which platform they use. The console price hasn't been announced yet, so players will need to wait for more word from the team.
Even though PlayStation has pushed harder toward digital-only releases, the developers say a physical PS5 edition is coming. It will include a game disc, an extra game code to share with a friend, and a sticker pack. There is no firm date for it, but copies are expected to ship later in 2026. Landfall also said a physical Switch 2 edition is in the works, while there are no plans for a physical release on Xbox Series X.
Updates and Sales
The console versions will include all the content updates from the Steam version so far, including The Final Ascent patch that arrived in August 2026. Aggro Crab and Landfall took criticism over PEAK's patch cycle and mod support, but they defended their work and said updates are a bonus, not something players are owed. Maintenance updates and bug fixes will keep coming on all platforms as needed, though it's unclear how often.
PEAK has sold over 10 million copies since launch, and Aggro Crab joked that it has done better than its 2024 adventure game Another Crab's Treasure. How well it performs on consoles compared to its established Steam audience remains to be seen.
