This addition comes as somewhat of a silver lining for fans, especially since the character was notably left out of the recent remake of the original Persona 3 game. Although she wasn't part of the initial PlayStation 2 release, she was introduced as an alternate playable protagonist when Persona 3 Portable launched back in 2009, a version that has since been made available on modern platforms. Now, she's set to appear in an entirely different title within the franchise.
Character Kit and Story Details Revealed
The character will be officially added to the roster on September 24 with a special sync patch coming to all versions of the game to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. Her limited-time banner will be available until November 12, 1:59 AM UTC. Her new look, combat moves and side story was previewed by the development team on a recent livestream. In the story she is met by the protagonist of the game after he goes through a mysterious door in a shopping mall, which makes him lose his memories of a key location in the story for a while. She steps in to help him during this moment and can be a permanent addition to the player's party if obtained through her limited banner.
Gameplay-wise she is a Strategist class, which is a role that is primarily focused on buffing teammates, and she also has the Fire element. Her kit is designed to boost the attack power, pierce rate and overall damage of her allies. One of her signature talents throws her into a unique state that prolongs the period of a critical buff and allows her to trigger another party member's special move immediately, even before it would have been ready. She also has a unique passive that gives a small boost to final damage output to the entire party for each Strategist-class character, a bonus that works even when she's not actively fighting. Interestingly, she can be paired up in the same party lineup with the male protagonist from the same game.
Part of a Bigger Year for the Franchise
The addition comes in a particularly busy year for the franchise, which has been marking its 30th anniversary with a variety of collaborations. They have ranged from a variety of retailer and restaurant tie-ins, to the announcement of a live-action streaming series adaptation, and new details about an upcoming remake of one of the earlier entries in the series. The franchise is also going to cross over with a popular trading card game, with full decks themed around three of its most recent titles, as well as individual cards featuring protagonists from the rest of the series.
And there's still plenty more coming for fans as the year draws to a close. A major remake is set to arrive in February 2027, and its producer has also recently teased that more remakes for earlier entries in the franchise may be in the works.
