An avid Minecraft fan, the nine-year-old reportedly spent more than $100,000 on a credit card, leaving the family to deal with the fallout. It's a situation that has been shared widely online and the kid is in serious trouble over the spending spree that came as a surprise.

The vast majority of Minecraft players don't spend a single dime beyond the initial purchase, as the base game itself has plenty of content. For those who want more, there are optional add-ons and community-made modifications. However, in this case the money was not spent on the game itself, but on something the child had never really done before.

A YouTube Channel Turns Into a Costly Mistake
The child, inspired by popular gaming content creators, began uploading his own Minecraft gameplay to a channel with his father's blessing. What started as a simple hobby quickly spiraled after his father, David, decided to help promote the channel by running a small advertising campaign, initially set at just a $20 budget. However, the child later went back into the account and removed the spending cap without his father's knowledge, allowing the charges to climb dramatically over time.

David has since taken control of the channel and announced in a video that it would be going on temporary hiatus after discovering the massive charges tied to his company's credit card. Because it was a business account rather than a personal one, there was no spending limit in place, and the charges reportedly went unnoticed for roughly three weeks. The incident has also created complications for David at work, with the full consequences still unclear.

Father Says Child Didn't Understand the Real Cost
Despite the scale of the situation, David has said he isn't placing all the blame on his son, explaining that the child likely didn't grasp that the advertising spend involved real money rather than something more abstract like in-game currency. Similar explanations have come up in other cases involving children unintentionally spending large sums through games or online platforms, though many people reacting online have pushed back, arguing that a child of that age should understand basic financial consequences. Still, using a company card for a personal project is widely seen as the bigger misstep in this scenario.

The story has also raised questions about whether it's real, or a stunt to build the channel. On purpose or accidentally, the channel exploded and the number of subscribers and views has been soaring since the video was published. Either way, it's a reminder for parents to check account permissions and spending limits, and to keep personal projects separate from business accounts.
