Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Announced with 2026 Release

Hell Let Loose, the World War II-era military simulation that's been in the works since 2019, is finally getting a sequel, taking the action to Vietnam. Called Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, the game will further the giant 50v50 battles of the first game and bring with it new maps, real weapons and vehicles from the time.

The first of the major new additions has to be the helicopters. Of course, these Air units will change the tide of gameplay by ferrying squads to Landing Zones, dropping supplies, aiding Recons, bringing powerful Fire Support and more.

Tactical Gameplay with Hardcore Elements
Whereas shooter mechanics and fast-paced action dominate traditional shooters, Hell Let Loose's take skews much closer to military simulation. It is a platoon-based unit which heavily relies on teamwork, voice communication and logistics. Although capture modes are still primary, the gameplay requires strategic thought. Tanks lumber about and weigh them; individual soldiers can be felled by a well-placed shot, and spawn points have to be built and supplied by the efforts of organized units. The helicopters will be no less intense, but they will make tactical warfare even more interesting.

It's going to take teamwork to succeed, but it's generally more accessible than similar games, such as Squad. The series has been transformed over the years thanks to patches and updates, helping to make the game refined.

Development and Release Plans
Black Matter developed the original Hell Let Loose before selling the property in 2022 to Team17. The Vietnam-based sequel, however, is in development by Expression Games, though Black Matter has rebranded as Good Fun Corporation and has since shifted its attention to a Napoleonic Europe-based PvPvE extraction RPG.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is coming out on PC and consoles at the same time. The game's Steam page is currently live, and it is expected to be released in 2026. Unlike its predecessor, this one will supposedly go directly to full release without an early access period.
