Genshin Impact Confirms Nicole Release Date

HoYoverse has begun its drip-marketing campaign for Nicole, the Voiceless Angel of Genshin Impact, confirming her backstory and when she will be able to be played. She will become playable on May 20, 2026, during the first half of the Version 6.6 timeframe. Unlike Version 6.5 which gave many new areas to Mondstadt, including Dornman Port and the Temple of Space, the Version 6.6 update will bring more new characters instead of more new map additions.

Genshin Impact Confirms Nicole Release Date

Nicole will debut with Durin at the start of Genshin Impact Version 6.6, which will occur on May 20, 2026, on the Event Banners and have accompanying 4-Star characters that have yet to be revealed; however there are many hopes from players that Prune will be one of them due to her high synergies with other team compositions.

Version 6.6 will introduce three new characters: Nicole (5-Star Pyro Catalyst support), Lohen (5-Star Cryo Polearm hypercarry), and Prune (4-Star Anemo Catalyst Swirl support).

Lore Overview and Backstory of Nicole
Nicole's backstory is key to providing deeper lore to the Hexenzirkel as she met Alice as a child, which helped shape the Hexenzirkel into what it would eventually become.

Nicole, the Silent Mage, is also one of the oldest characters within the game and the entire Genshin Impact series, being akin in age to Zhongli and Zibai. Her long backstory and relationships with powerful individuals have made her an important new character to help continue the developing lore around Genshin Impact.

Gameplay Content Role of Nicole and Considerations When Pulling for This Character
From a gameplay perspective, Nicole has been created to be a highly versatile support character as her abilities will allow for both attack buffs and shields and also provide coordinated attacks that adapt to the active characters' elements.

Nicole should have strong synergy with Varka and therefore, will also support multiple other hypercarry characters like Navia or Lyney, but only when team compositions have been properly built. That being said, due to how she provides attack buffs to her teammates, Nicole's delayed attack buffs may not work with other avenues of players pulling for her, so certain characters like Mawuika may not benefit as much as some others from the usage of Nicole.

Players should keep in mind that if they plan on pulling for Nicole during the Genshin Impact Version 6.6 update, they will have a limited resource count compared to other Genshin Impact updates with an estimated average between all free-to-play players that will have roughly 60 Intertwined Wishes saved up before Version 6.6's official update.

With Nicole and Durin to start the first banner on May 20, 2026, Version 6.6 is likely going to become a more heavily-character-focused update than any previous updates and have lasting impacts on how many players build their teams moving forward.
