The Indonesia Game System has rated the Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo IV for a release on April 28, 2026. In addition to the Nintendo Switch, the add-on will be playable on the PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. The possibility of a Nintendo Switch version of Diablo IV becoming available would widen the target audience for the game, particularly for fans who enjoy portable gaming. The Diablo franchise has recently released previous versions of the game on Nintendo gaming systems. For example, Diablo 3: Eternal Collection was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2018, and Diablo 2: Resurrected was released for the Switch in 2021.Even with the excitement surrounding this news, fans are being cautioned against taking too much stock in the Indonesia rating, as game platforms listed on ratings sometimes are simply place holders. For example, both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not listed in the level of play upon the rating system, although both Consoles are expected to support the Lord of Hatred expansion. Furthermore, the newest version of the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2, has been heavily featured in the marketplace and beginning to attract the interest of third-party development companies.
Given the above considerations, it is very difficult to conclude that the rating reflects an actual planned release rather than just a potential error. As a result, fans should monitor all news from Blizzard Entertainment for any updates regarding the status of a Nintendo Switch version of Diablo 4.
There have been many discussions regarding the potential arrival of Diablo IV on Nintendo hardware. Blizzard Entertainment executive Rod Fergusson previously indicated there is certainly opportunity for the game to become available for Nintendo's newest consoles. This discussion was prompted by the continued successful performance of Diablo IV and several positive player reviews of recent seasonal updates added to the game. In fact, the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion is anticipated to be the largest Diablo IV update released to date since the development of the Vessel of Hatred expansion in 2024, creating even more momentum for the successful game.
If a Nintendo Switch version of Diablo IV does become reality, it undoubtedly would create a much larger population of players who would be able to play the game. Nonetheless, for now, everyone must continue to wait until an official announcement is made by Blizzard Entertainment regarding a potential Nintendo version of Diablo IV.
