Discounty Brings Stardew Valley Charm to Supermarket Life

Discounty is a recently released cozy simulation game that reinvents the banality of everyday life in its unique style of familiarity. With its pixel art and heartwarming story, it’s already being compared to Stardew Valley. But rather than farming, players operate a discount supermarket in the make-believe town of Blomkest.

Very Very Valet by Crinkle Cut Games has the player inheriting a tiny market from their aunt. Players renovate, expand, and serve customers in old hometown shops, all the while discovering secrets behind the idyllic town.

Discounty mingles business management with cozy slice-of-life storytelling and provides players with ample choice in their play style.

Gameplay and Features
Outside of working supply runs as a shelf stocker, the game also focuses on building relationships with fellow townsfolk. Friends and other types of partnerships can have a direct impact on store profits, while local suppliers can also contribute to growth potential.

The campaign takes 15 to 20 hours to complete, but players can also play it creatively, focusing slowly on decorating and expanding their supermarket.

Release and Early Reception
Discounty was released on August 21 for Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S for approximately $20. It has already received a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, indicating its growing popularity in the cozy game community.

Steam players can get it on sale for roughly $16 USD through September 4th, or buy it along with Tiny Bookshop for about $33 USD.
