This situation has left many players without access to their collection of older games in the last few weeks and, also in some cases, for months and consists of the console being unable to connect to Xbox Live when trying to launch some Xbox 360 games.

Xbox first announced that they knew about the issue on April 22nd, and Ronald later chimed in on April 28th, confirming they were actively looking into this incident and also pointing out that only a very small amount of owners were affected by this issue, and he wanted them to send him a direct message on social media so he could gather more information and investigate each case.

Mixed Reactions From The Gaming Community
There are a number of players that were happy that Ronald, a high-ranking member of Xbox, was publicly communicating about this topic, but there were also many other people who are frustrated that they cannot access their games and that it is difficult to contact Ronald for assistance.

There were many users that pointed out that sending Ronald a direct message to ask for help was not possible unless he had followed them back because the feature is blocked to everyone other than paid subscribers of the platform. Ronald reached out to a number of those players that raised the issue and sent them a direct message trying to assist with their request.

For other players who have been affected and did not get a direct message from Ronald, he stated that they had gathered a significant amount of information already and were continuing the investigation and that they would follow up with any other players if more detail were required.

However, many of the players who have been unable to access their Xbox 360 games for an extended period of time are still understandably dissatisfied with the length of time it is taking to resolve this issue.

A Difficult Time For Xbox's User Frustration To Be Occurring
The Backward Compatible issue comes at a time of heightened scrutiny of the Xbox brand. Earlier this year, it was reported that Xbox Hardware sales were down 25% over last year, and a huge marketing strategy caused frustration for Players and Developers alike.

Additionally, Xbox is currently reviewing their exclusivity strategy after it was revealed that exclusivity is a large factor in the console purchasing habits of consumers. As previously stated, Backward Compatibility has always been one of the most praised features of Xbox, so losing the ability to access this feature has negatively impacted the confidence of the customers.

There is also concern that the Backward Compatibility issue is mainly affecting the newer owners of the Xbox Series X/S, the group of Consumers that Xbox needs to keep most. With the issue now being made publicly known by an Executive, it is hoped that they will quickly resolve the issue as well as allow players access to their Backward Compatible Games.
