The Latest Bonus
The remake's release date is getting closer, and time is running out to lock in a bonus. Anyone who pre-orders the digital version, or buys a copy before November 23 at 11:59 pm PT, can now get a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary digital wallpaper. It shows the anniversary logo over a collage of images from many classic Zelda games, and it comes in formats suited to both computer desktops and phones. Qualifying buyers will get an email at the address tied to their Nintendo Account after the promotion window closes, with a link to download it.
A Long List of Extras Around the World
That is far from the only bonus on offer. A textured foil cover is available while supplies last, and that is just the start. Slipcovers based on the original game, replicas of the Spiritual Stones and a replica of the original Nintendo 64 box are among the items. There are also keychains, coasters, wallets, pins, cards, coins and more. Which bonus a player gets depends on their region and the store they buy from.
Not Much for US Fans
Players in the US have it worst. The only bonuses announced there are technically early order bonuses: the textured foil cover on the first edition of the physical version, and the wallpaper for digital copies. Nintendo hasn't explained why there are no special bonuses for US customers, and fans have complained on social media. With the release date so close, a change seems unlikely.
A Remake Fans Are Watching Closely
Early previews of the remake have been largely positive, and new clips show how far the visuals have come since the N64. Ocarina of Time is one of the most beloved games ever, so Nintendo knows millions of players will expect a lot. It remains one of the year's biggest releases, even after some criticism, and it will likely make November a very busy month. It won't be long before gamers can decide whether it lives up to the original legend.
