Story Background
This anime is based on the manga written by Shinya Misu, which has been published in Kodansha's Magazine Pocket since March 2022. The animation is being produced by Tezuka Productions, and it will be broadcast in Japan in 2026. At present, its cast and staff information has not been made public.
A Complicated Relationship Between Old Friends
The main character in this story is a high schooler named Eeyuu whose normal life gets turned upside down thanks in large part to 2 childhood friends named Shio and Akari. Both Shio and Akari are not only in the same school, but they've also turned from childhood girls into confident, stunning young women. It is at this point that, while Shio and Akari consider Eeyuu nothing more than a friend, Eeyuu begins to harbour romantic feelings for them, which he does his best to hide.
Shio and Akari each have their own secret and feelings as well. It is at this point in the anime that is focused on friendship, jealousy, and at the least misunderstandings, that will create one emotionally charged and hilarious spectacle!
Old Theme, New Approach
Although romantic comedy anime based on childhood friends have been seen before, Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai is going to present the subject with a modern and emotional depth. The story shows how childhood friendships can change over time, and how romantic feelings can slowly affect the friendship.

Tezuka Productions, known for creating many classic and modern anime, is handling the project. So fans can expect excellent animation, emotional depth, and visual appeal.
Although the wait until 2026 is long, this anime can prove to be a new and interesting experience for lovers of romantic comedies.
