Epic and Disney Plan Extraction Shooter

A video game project from Epic Games currently in development is being created in partnership with Disney, and reportedly takes inspiration from ARC Raiders' extraction shooter gamestyle. The initial reports suggest players could see a release date for this project within the next few months, even though many of the project details are still in the early Design development process.

According to new reports, the game could launch late this November 2026. Players will play as many different characters from Disney's many franchises and will participate in missions before moving to an 'extraction' point.

There are many unknowns about this project, like the list/number of playable characters and enemy types as well as the status of whether it will be a standalone title or part of Fortnite.

Internal feedback for the project is currently mixed. There are a number of praises pointing towards the originality of the concepts, while some reviewers feel like this title has room to improve before its launch. Additionally, the Epic-Disney deal reportedly involves two more titles beyond the extraction title, one of which has also received average internal reviews. The development teams are making roster changes to improve the quality of the games' product.

Epic Games' Senior Director of Communications has released a statement refuting the claims made in the reports regarding the partnership; this statement emphasized the fundamental purpose each company is attempting to maintain across their working relationship: to Build/create a New 'connected' gaming Universe based on Disney's specific franchised entertainment properties.

Disney's investment in Epic Games represents a high-stakes investment on both sides. Disney's long-term plan is to provide a connected entertainment experience for consumers that blend/distribute multiple types of entertainment through gaming and Disney's extensive number of successful franchises.

Epic Games is being pressed also for success with the execution of a Disney title (as well as Fortnite's integration with a Disney title) after the announcement of the loss of roughly 1,000 permanent employees in early 2026 as well as three modes of play from the Fortnite product; both of which would indicate massive restructuring period for Epic Games.

If the project has an on-time launch within the November window, teasers showcasing gameplay, characters and product direction could be starting very soon.
