Despite selling over 20 million copies in 2025, and being more successful than Call of Duty in sales, Battlefield 6 has continued to face criticism from players and even saw the studio itself lay off employees in 2026.
The Features and Changes of Update 1.2.3.5
Though it is relatively small in nature, Update 1.2.3.5 will address numerous issues that many players have been frustrated about since the launch of Battlefield 6. One of the most significant fixes is the transition of the camera when dying from first to third person, which has led to numerous complaints about viewing deaths, as many players felt they had died while behind cover.
This bug was an ongoing source of frustration to many players and resulted in a lot of players believing that they had died unfairly as the game punished them for something that had happened in netcode. Update 1.2.3.5 also improves the overall stability of gameplay, enhances the user interface of the progression of operation augur, and improves the readability of the REDSEC game modes and user interface across the lobby and in-game scenarios.
Additional improvements consist of better bot functionality, thereby reducing the unnecessary redeployment of bots throughout the game and the REDSEC portion of the game, and changes to the crashes and stability of both the game and the REDSEC area of the game.
A really brief summary of the Full Patch Notes Fixes for Player Side: First and Third Person Camera Desynchronized (Stance Transition), Game Freezing When Resuming from Suspend Mode, Fixes for Multiple Crashes. In terms of Progression Bug: Using the 3rd weapon slot with Assault Class was incorrectly granting experience for the Primary Weapon instead of the weapon actually used. User Interface Fixes: "Game Started" Notification Missing When Joining Game in Progress (Operation Augur); Updated End of Round Screen to Include Battle Pass Tab; and Corrected Vehicle/Nickname Names from In-Game to Be Correct.
In REDSEC Specifically: Spectating Controls Fixed, Armored Transport's Camera Clip Bug Fixed, and Weapon Model Rendering Bug Fixed after Player Revived.
Season 3 Set for May 12 with Major Content
All of our focus is now on Season 3 of Battlefield 6, due on May 12, 2026. This is going to be a 12-week Season and will include the largest update of content so far for Battlefield 6. One of the largest additions will be Golmud Railway, reimagined from BF4 and brought back into BF6; it will have the largest map ever added into Battlefield 6.
There will also be the addition of Cairo Bazaar (the revamped Grand Bazaar), and two maps total will be added during Season 3. In addition to the maps, we will see the addition of Ranked Play and Solo Mode to Battlefield REDSEC as well as new weapons, game modes, and cosmetic items.
Will Season 3 Bring Back a Frustrated Player Base?
It remains to be seen whether the addition of Golmud is enough to diminish the negative sentiment toward players currently or not. The main issue the community has with Battlefield 6 to date has been a lack of very large (based on Battlefield standards) maps, which this addition of Golmud Railway should directly resolve.
However, that there will not be any new maps being added this season could be a reason for discontentment among players over the new maps being added. Also, with a total of only two new maps being added, it may lead the community to still feel that the quantity of content being offered is too limited given the already limited number of maps in the game.
The hope now is that both Golmud Railway and Cairo Bazaar will provide two distinctly different ways to enjoy the game and continue providing great varieties of engagement through the summer months while Battlefield 6 attempts to recreate the initial momentum from Battlefield 6 at launch.
