In the roughly 19 months since The Witcher 4 was officially announced in December 2024, Dandelion's involvement in the game has widely been considered a near-certainty among fans. The character has consistently been cited as one of the most obvious legacy figures likely to carry over into the new saga, with many fans openly arguing that Dandelion deserved a place in the story even if his role in Ciri's first solo adventure ended up being relatively minor.
Voice Actor Confirms Recording Sessions, Though Details Remain Limited
Any lingering uncertainty about Dandelion's future in the franchise was largely put to rest during a recent panel appearance at PSX Extreme Party 2026 in Warsaw on September 5. Speaking with Polish journalist Dawid Muszyński, Kopczyński revealed that he had already recorded some lines for the character in The Witcher 4, though he described the amount as relatively small, according to a recap of the interview shared by the fan page Wiedźminlandia. It remains unclear whether Kopczyński had explicit clearance from CD Projekt Red to share this detail, though the casual, informal nature of the panel discussion suggests it may not have been an official announcement.
Kopczyński's comments don't clarify exactly how significant Dandelion's role will end up being in the new game. His description of having recorded "not much" could suggest a limited cameo appearance, but it could just as easily mean his recording work simply isn't finished yet. The recap doesn't indicate whether Kopczyński expects to return to the studio for additional sessions. It does note separately that he had not yet recorded his lines for The Witcher 3's upcoming Songs of the Past expansion and was still waiting on a studio invitation, meaning his limited Witcher 4 recording sessions can't be explained as overlapping with ongoing DLC work.
With Ciri already confirmed as the game's new protagonist and Geralt previously confirmed to make an appearance as well, Dandelion now joins them as another familiar face expected to appear in the highly anticipated RPG. Exactly what role the beloved bard will play in the story remains completely unknown, especially given his deep, long-standing connections to both Geralt and Ciri.
A Character With Deep Roots in the Franchise
If Dandelion does return, it would continue a streak dating back to the very first Witcher game, as the character has appeared in all three previous mainline entries and remains one of Geralt's most enduring companions throughout the broader franchise. The Witcher 3 in particular frames much of its storytelling and quest narration through Dandelion's perspective, and his relationship with Geralt extends well beyond the games themselves, rooted deeply in the source material.
None of this confirms what specific part Dandelion will play alongside Ciri in the new story. With CD Projekt Red currently aiming for a 2028 release for The Witcher 4, the full scope of Kopczyński's involvement remains just one of many cast details the studio has yet to officially confirm.
